UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State graduate guard Ashley Owusu was selected in the third round with pick No. 33 by the Dallas Wings in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

Owusu played her first three seasons at Big Ten rival Maryland before transferring to Virginia Tech in 2022. An injury would sideline her for the back half of the season where she would make her next start as a Lady Lion 322 days later.

Her debut in blue and white against Rutgers ended with 18 points, which led the team. The victory was also Penn State’s 1000th win in program history.

The Woodbridge, Va. native finished the season with an average of 17.7 points, a team-best. She would also notch her 1500th career point, 500th career rebound and 500th career assist this season as well.

Owusu received All-Big Ten Second Team by the coaches and All-Big Ten Honorable Mention by the media, helping propel Penn State to its first postseason appearance since the 2018 WNIT.

The Lady Lions made it to the semifinals of the WBIT before falling to the fellow No. 1 seeded Villanova Wildcats.

This pick marks the 16th time a Lady Lion has been drafted to the WNBA and the first since Maggie Lucas in 2014.
